FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Public gallery at South Miami bank exhibits “abstract pattern immersion” art by Randy Nutt

Abstract Pastel Drawing

A new exhibit at The Wirtz Gallery (runs 1-29  July), “Thinking is Fun” features abstract pastel drawings by Randy Nutt that explore how human interactions with everyday objects (nature, debris, dreams, light…) and immersion in abstract patterns awaken pathways to realizations of undiscovered potential. The opening reception will be Friday July 8, 6-9 pm. This space, located in the First National Bank of South Miami, is a non-profit public gallery, curated by Mercedes Cruz.

Nutt has lived in Miami since 1985. Originally from Chicago, a founding member of the experimental art rock band Merz Pix, he studied briefly at Tyler School of Art (Philadelphia).  More important than formal schooling is his lifelong process of making and studying art, including abstract visual art and abstract compositions on electric bass guitar.  Private collectors across the US and the globe (France, the UK, the Netherlands, Tasmania, Japan) have purchased his works. Nutt had a solo exhibit in the Netherlands in the fall of 2015, at the Notre Dame des Arts gallery in Ubbergen.  Locally, he has a solo visual art exhibit at 6th Street Container alternative art space in Little Havana this summer (thru mid July)  and is a regular participant (in many media) at Audiotheque on Lincoln Road.

“Our hopes and dreams need to be activated for us to find out what they are,” says Nutt when asked about the idea behind this exhibit. “As thoughts take shape through process, insights and solutions are revealed.  Behind the idea of the art is that humans can do great things (creatively and technically), but may be blocked by a world that discourages thinking. Nevertheless individuals carry internal, portable, positive energy. Though dormant, it can become awakened and a great source of happiness if allowed to be free. This is a personal matter. Interact.”

“Thinking is Fun” Abstract Pastel Drawings by Randy Nutt will take place at the Wirtz Gallery a non-profit public art gallery at the First National Bank of South Miami, 5750 Sunset Drive, South Miami, FL 33143.  An opening reception will be held on Friday, July 8th at 6-9pm. The exhibit can be seen throughout the month of July during business hours M-Th 9am-4pm, Fri 9am-6pm.
