FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Iconic alternative art space exhibits “no remorse” visual and sound art by Randy Nutt
A new exhibit at 6th Street Container alternative art space this month, “Earthquake Proof” features works created by Randy Nutt from assembling and interacting with re-purposed materials, including a sound art piece called “Exile, the Movie.” The opening reception will be Friday June 17, 6-9 pm. This space, located in Little Havana, is a project and exhibition space dedicated to providing a venue for edgy, experimental art. It was the first and it is renowned for hosting some of the city's best burgeoning artistic talent. Its co-founder Adal Delgado curated this exhibit.
Nutt has lived in Miami since 1985. Originally from Chicago, a founding member of the experimental art rock band Merz Pix, he studied briefly at Tyler School of Art (Philadelphia). More important is his lifelong process of making and studying art, including abstract visual art and abstract compositions on electric bass guitar. Private collectors across the US and the globe (France, the UK, the Netherlands, Tasmania, Japan) have purchased his works. Nutt had a solo exhibit in the Netherlands in the fall of 2015, at the Notre Dame des Arts gallery in Ubbergen. Locally, he is a regular participant (in many media) at Audiotheque on Lincoln Road.
“One of those artists who lives his work as much as his surroundings, Randy Nutt is given to experimentation and shows no sign of remorse when doing what he does best, which is being totally unpretentious,” says curator Adal Delgado. “He is art 24/7. If he is not painting and drawing, he's making experimental music (or just music as he likes to call it,). In this exhibit, we have curated Randy's most inner moments. He is unique in both his craft and his concept, he is definitely an artist you will want to experience.”
“Earthquake Proof” Mixed media works by Randy Nutt will take place at the 6th Street Container alternative art space, 1155 SW 6th Street (Rear), Miami. An opening reception will be held on Friday, June 17th at 6-9pm. The exhibit can be seen on other dates throughout the month by appointment with the artist. Further details can be found on 6thstreetcontainer facebook page.
